‘Putting Primary CLIL into Practice’ from 16th to 20th June, 2025
Valentina, a dear colleague from Caselette, Italy, had been on one of our courses at Anglia School as part of Erasmus+ groups visiting for ‘Putting CLIL into Practice’ in early 2023. Diana and I subsequently visited Settimo to offer more trainings and contribute to the dissemination of good practice. Valentina was very kind in showing us around Turin for one of the mornings. It was on this walk that Valentina suggested that she might send teachers from I.C. Caselette in her region to courses in Plovdiv. This collection is the product of the hard work 5 teachers put in during the week they stayed with us for ‘Putting Primary CLIL into Practice’ from 16th to 20th June, 2025.
The entire collection is focused on Endangered Animals for primary level CLIL. You will find materials for CLIL teaching and learning about: The Black Rhino, The Red Panda, The Gorilla, The Sea Lion, The Sea Turtle, The Migratory Monarch Butterfly, as well as the class sessions from Anglia School which the colleagues were able to attend, and which we were also dedicated to the theme of endangered animals.
We followed a tried-and-tested structure to the course which had our visitors participate in a theory session on aspects of CLIL methodology in the morning and this was followed by a class visit lead by Diana, our school manager. In the afternoon, back with me the colleagues brainstormed their thematic units and developed them daily with insights from both the theory sessions and the classroom practice. We are quite literally Putting CLIL into Practice with our course participants, and they then take what they see and use it to write resources to use back in their own schools.
I keep asking Valentina if we can come back and do some more school visits, and showcase these resources as well as bring the published paper copies with me (Valentina!?). This is a unique aspect of our courses in that we work in a way to maximise the dissemination of good practice and the experience through the printing of the resources created.
The pdf stays on the FACTWorld website and shared in other platforms.
If you find any errors, as usual these are my fault, as I check and edit all the material before it goes to print.
All my thanks go to the colleagues for their input to this marvellous primary CLIL collection and to Stefka for the pre-print work!
Please share!
