16th National BETA-IATEFL Conference, 19 – 20 May 2007, Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria

The Bulgarian English Teachers' Association had its annual conference in Blagoevgrad last week.  It was a lively fruitful event.  The organisation is a relatively small one but always seems to be able to punch above its weight bringing big names to the English teaching community's once a year gettogether.  Mario Rinvolucri, Luke Prodromou to name but a few...

The beautiful old town 'Varosha' in Blagoevgrad.  The rain couldn't spoil it's fascination.

The conference was hosted in building of the American University in Blagoevgrad, a wonderful place for a conference being central and with excellent facilities.

Content and Language Integrated Learning had a significant presence at the conference.  This has become a tradition now in Bulgaria and is not surprising given the extent of foreign language subject teaching around the country.
